Review: Vampires Never Get Old by Zoraida Córdova

Image
Rating :  ★ ★ ★ ★ Cawpile : 7.00 / 10 Release Date : 25th May 2021 Genre(s) : YA Urban Fantasy Anthology Happy Release Day! Massive thank you to Titan Books and NetGalley for providing me with a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.  I just want to start off by saying this anthology was great! It contained some really unique and incredibly diverse vampire stories (a lot of own voices authors also!) which took a fresh perspective on the genre, and was a true delight to read. Each short story is accompanied by a short ‘discussion’ by the editors, briefly talking about an issue related to the story about vampirism (such as mirrors, coffins, bats). Seven Nights For Dying by Tessa Gratton   ⭐️⭐️⭐️  This first story follows our main character who is an overweight bisexual teenager looking to be transformed into a vampire. It follows her week long journey of transition, giving her plenty of time to fully think about her decision. There was also trans representation and the short story

TTT (Top 10 Tuesday) is a weekly meme hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl . This week is  10 Book Quotes about Love . These were so hard to think of off the top of my head - a lot of them were googled for clarification. “We accept the love we think we deserve.”  ―  Stephen Chbosky,  The Perks of Being a Wallflower “You love me. Real or not real? ” I tell him,  “ Real.”  ―  Suzanne Collins,  Mockingjay “Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time.”  ―  Maya Angelou “Look after my heart - I've left it with you.”  ―  Stephenie Meyer,  Eclipse “I guess that’s just part of loving people: You have to give things up. Sometimes you even have to give them up.”  ―  Lauren Oliver,  Delirium “But in a solitary life, there are rare moments when another soul dips near yours, as stars once a year brush the earth. Such a constellation was he to me.”  ―  Madeline Miller,  Circe “Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at i

Review: The Lights of Prague by Nicole Jarvis

Image
Rating :  ★ ★ ★ ★ Release Date : 18th May 2021 Genre(s) : Adult Urban Fantasy Massive thank you to Titan Books and NetGalley for providing me with a free ARC in exchange for an honest review. The Lights of Prague follows Domek Myska, a lamplighter, whose job secretly involves keeping the city of Prague safe from pijavice (vampires) and Lady Ora Fischerová, an aristocratic, bisexual widow, who just happens to also be a pijavica. It follows their relationship, and their intertwining storylines as they both attempt to save Prague, before the pijavice, who have recently discovered a cure, take over the city. I love these characters and the dual perspective the story followed. Domek is such an unlikely gentlemen, which was refreshing considering the majority of modern male love interests seem to be the alpha male type, and Domek was quite the opposite. Whilst, Ora was definitely a badass (with an emotional side). The romance between them is definitely not the focus of the book, but it was

21 Books for 21 Years

Image
Today is my 21st birthday (yay!) So, I thought I'd share 21 books that have made me the person I am today... aka 21 of my all time favourite books (in no particular order!) 1. Harry Potter by JK Rowling I think this one's pretty self explanatory - if anyone knows me personally they'll know I'm obsessed with this series, it was one of the first books, and one of the very first fantasy books that drew me into reading. I still reread it nearly every year (no shame) 2. These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong This is my favourite book of 2021 so far, so I feel like this is a great way to get more of an insight into my current tastes. I do love a Shakespeare retelling, and Romeo and Juliet holds a special place in my heart, as it was the first of his works I read. 3. Call Me by Your Name by André Aciman One of my very first ventures into adult romance, and it was just everything I needed at the time of reading it. A beautiful bittersweet summer romance set in Italy, yes. This on
